Abuja Declaration - Shea 2024
Call to Action for Shea Parklands

Call for Action for Shea Parklands

At Shea 2024 in Abuja in March 2024 a significant milestone was marked for the Alliance as the industry, led by women collectors, ratified a Call to Action: a declaration aimed at advancing the preservation of shea parklands and promoting sustainable growth of the sector. The Call to Action, penned by 143 GSA members, embodies a firm commitment to the objectives outlined in the Action for Shea Parklands Initiative. Notably, members pledged to restore an impressive 4,000,000 hectares of shea parklands by the year 2030, with ambitious targets set forth:

10,000,000 new shea and native trees will be nurtured
10,000,000 women shea collectors and processors will revitalize parklands
10 countries will partner and improve their policies regarding shea parklands management
